Re: Portrait

Interesting shot. I like the strong contrast between the color and the black, and the gradation of the oranges is good. The BW image is slightly tilted, I think, and this messes up the effect, as does the telephone cord.

Without the cord, I think it would be a really fine image.

Re: Portrait

An intriguing little shot and I agree it does work, not quite sure why but it does. The telephone cable doesn't worry me as I assume this is a videophone or door entry system so it ties the picture together. I would like the lady's eyes to be open as they would help make the connection. As I am seeing it as a door entry type thing, it would make the person outside look as though they are longing to come in and so the picture would tell more of a story.

Interesting idea, well done :o)

Re: Portrait

What an interesting idea! Nice one, Photom. I don't mind the cord either. I agree with Rob that it contributes to what is happening. I also agree with him about the girl's eyes. If they were looking out of the screen instead of looking down, it would be much better.

Re: Portrait

I like this shot as it is including the cord. It is one of the few shots that get posted that actually tell a story or set the scene so that the viewer things about the photos' meaning. The story behind this shot could be so different to each viewer and thats the big attraction.

Very good work in my opinion

Re: Portrait

Thank you all.

The telephone cable is important for the story, and for the composition: it follows the diagonal line, it fills the dark area on the left, it gives depth...

Girl's eyes looking down ... a sense of embarrassment when someone is watching you and you can't watch him...
