Portraits
Been a bit busy for a couple of months so not had chance to get clicking, but I did get bored the other night so I took a few portraits of the other half.
I'm not sure what I'm doing here, but i thought i would experiement with a couple of studio flashes I have lying around. Please feel free to comment, be it good or bad. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Regards. |

Not sure how Humphrey Bogart got in there
, but the last two pictures of the lassie are great, don't like the first one so much though she looks kinda hunched over a bit.

Nice shot of her in the hat. Might just be me but I do find it slightly distracting the way the hat cuts through her right eye, keep on wanting to push it up a bit

It's not the hat that's in the way for me in that shot.
I'll get me coat. It's that hard shadow to one side of her nose that spoils it for me. Once you see it it's an eye magnet. |

I like them, thought you was gonna tell us you liked the ...er.....company of men...before i realised the first shot was you, and not your 'other half' as you stated...

Good pics, but like others I find the hat over the eye irritating. Your other half looks relaxed in front of the camera, which is great. |

Shot one is nice (of her, not the self).. if I was real picky, personally I'd lower the hair light a touch, but other than that it's sound.. Second shot has issues... as others have pointed out, that hat cropping through the eye is a problem.. when cropping anything... either all in, or all out. Why not go the whole hog, like this....
Althoug, that's a ringflash shot, and the inate hardness of lighting lends itself better to such a harsh composition. Just an idea tho.Too heavily sidelit also, with not enough fill resulting in a huge distracting shadow next to the nose. Third is ok.. nothing really wrong... just seems a bit flat.... could have a bit more punch somewhere. All basically sound tho. Right... the self portrait... LOL.... TECHNICALLY sound..... not sure about the look tho  I'd have backlit the ciggy smoke more tho. On all of them, I think the background is too close, and the texture is just annoying, but again.. being picky.
