Re: rare landscape
Certainly does it for me though a strange thing, when I right click to have a look at the exif it crashes my browser. I don't get this with any other photo and if no exif is available then I get the usual dialogue box popping up but not with this photo.
I thought it was just a coincidence but I tried on 4 separate occasions and each time I had to restart the browser.,,,weird. But I could'nt get it to crash veiwing the exif on other pics. |

Re: rare landscape
Yeah there is something wierd on the EXIF. Didn't crash my browser but did crash the EXIF viewer.
Good picture. I would probably crop from the bottom a bit as I feel there is a bit too much brown in the bottom left corner and a wide format wouldn't hurt the picture. If this is what all your landscapes look like then you need to take more of them! |

Re: rare landscape
very nice photo. interesting place. if i were you i would take more sky in composition rahter half to half (sky and land). but maybe i'm wrong.
sky is a little bit overexposed - you could see it on clouds at the left. but colours are great |

Re: rare landscape
A reasonable scene Fiona which makes a fairly likeable photo.
As you asked though, I'll rip it to bits. ![]() The sky is burnt out on LHS as has been mentioned before. I think you've got the right amount of sky personally. What could really be improved though I think is the composition of the scene. I'm not sure how much access would be possible here, but in the ideal world I think you should lose most of that gravel in the foreground. Getting onto the gravel and framing the dam from there would enable this, and I think bring the main subject (the dam) into larger prominence, and create a possibility of using it to create a lead in line to your picture. |

Re: rare landscape
Similar, and think that crop makes it better.
I was also thinking that getting closer to the dam would enable you to alter the angle height of image too. |

Re: rare landscape
hey thanx all,............... could it be that this is actually an HDR that is giving a prob with exif?
my OH actually suggested losing hte gravel and i did but then put it back cos i liked the contrast of the rough gravel with the smooth flowing water ( if that makes sense) anyway........ i do have a few more of the salmon ladder frmo different angles, unfortunately i couldnt find a safe way down to the gravel itself., but i did get down to nearly the water on the other side..... will process them and post later,. thanx again everyone, as usual all the suggestions have been absorbed and taken on board for next time! Re: rare landscape
I like this and agree withy Marcin about cropping but not quite as heavily as I feel the run off area of water is necessary to balance this picture's peaceful feel. I'd go about halfway between the two and then it's lovely
![]() It's definitely the HDR factor causing probs with EXIF but it might also be the Canon factor as for some reason, and I think this was flagged up by Steve ages ago, Canon EXIF and Pixalo doesn't quite mix for some reason. i have no idea why, I just seem to recall either Steve or Dave mentioning it way back. Lovely pic Fi, well done. Cheers, Rob
