Re: Red~
Hi Bullet (or it it damned?)
Good pic, but I would try two things. First try some different cropping to get rid of a lot of the black. Second, see if you can bring back the blown highlights. This image is more like an abstract for me, rather than coral, and so that is why I like it. Welcome to the site....you will learn a lot. skip |

Re: Red~
Liked the abstract feel, but would prefer to see more to the right & a little off the bottom ....... all personal taste mind you
Quick edit just to show pro portions.... ignore the cloning ![]()

Re: Red~
How did you get the fish to get out of the picture? Dave---I like what you did to the picture. It added alot more interest. Bullet....I like the red of the coral and I think you did well getting the colors. Welcome to Pixalo. You will like it here.

Re: Red~
Nice abstract
1. I'd clone out the filter pipe ![]() 2. The long strip of bright light that runs along the top of the bed of stones keeps drawing my eye; I'd reduce the brightness of it, as it's bleached, although you may be able to recover detail there if you shot in RAW. 3. The red coral is a tad oversaturated causing the colour to bleed/posterize, resulting in loss of detail, which is a shame 'cos I think we need to be able to see the detail in the coral. I like the idea of this shot very much, but I think a slightly more delicate handling of the processing would produce a more polished finish. Just my opinion of course, I'm sure others see it differently ![]() Oh and to pixalo!

Re: Red~
I'm intrigued as to how you managed to get this onto the system as it is 400kbs, double the normal limit. When I tried and upload a photo that much bigger, the system rejected it!
I think the pimped version of the pic is better as it decentralises the coral and gives the picture much more interest. I'm afraid though that the colours are good but that holds my interest for a very short time. After that there isn't much left to keep me interested. I think there might be some abstract mileage in the shot if you crop in very close, get rid of all the empty black spaces and use it as a contrast in the lines between the round pebbles and the straight lines of the coral itself. Below is just an example but there weren't enough pixels to crop this much so the quality is poor. However, done from the original it would be possible to find a good crop. You could try a diagonal box crop (select and then rotate before cropping) to add more dynamic lines. Just a thought anyway. Cheers, Rob
