Re: Ribblehead Viaduct
I can see it, must have been reposted.
This is fine Ray. The difficulty with long structures like a viaduct is finding a good angle to show its features well. The colour and exposure is fine here, the composition is good but a bit tight on the cropping, especially along the bottom. I think a large bridge like this needs a good foundation on which to stand ![]() You're doing really well and obviously enjoying your new lens. Cheers, Rob |

Re: Ribblehead Viaduct
Sorry, been having connection issues all afternoon!
Agree with the cropping being too tight on the bottom. Also I would suggest either taking the photo from the other side of the bridge, or taking it at a different time of day, as the entire side is in shadow. |

Re: Ribblehead Viaduct
Ray, you talking about the uumf we all crave. IMO the easiest way to create that little something extra is to shot at sunrise or sunset with preferably some cloud action. It makes a massive difference in my opinion.
Of coarse like all things in life my statement is a general statement and there are plenty of brilliant examples shot at midday to disprove what I just said. In my part of the world during the day there are very few good normal hours landscape opportunities, the light is simply too strong and too harsh. I use these hours to find my shots, check out all the comps ( and in some case plan an escape route or an entry route ) I then return undercover of darkness ready for the sunrise this is IMO an incredible bridge in a beautiful part of the world. A bridge worthy of a great landscape shot.I'm thinking how the bridge would look with golden light of sunrise or sunset on it and some real interest in the sky.All of the above is my opinion and plenty people may disagree but to me light is the number 1. cheers Andrew |

Re: Ribblehead Viaduct
I found that using a tripod helped improve the uumph. It slowed down the process of taking the picture and forced me to concentrate on the composition. But as the others have said you're doing fine.
