Re: Robin
Not sure about too severe (and don't know what size you've come down from) but it is very central in the frame - be tempted to crop off the LHS

Re: Robin
I'd also be tempted to crop it in a bit tighter, as Mark suggests.
I think the border might also be a bit heavy and it detracts from the image a bit. Lovely shot though! |

Re: Robin
Nice, sharp shot. Robin's a bit tiny, but the colurs and DoF are good.
Congratulations on posting the first Robin piccie I've seen this year, does this mean we're about to get inundated? cheers Dan |

Re: Robin
I meant the composition was better with the crop - subject de-centered.
If there is a loss of sharpness from the original it might be that enlarging the image has stretched the pixels a bit, or the original was not sharp, but at the original size, it did not show. Did you apply any sharpening to the cropped version? Also, now the viewer is drawn more to the bird, the light leaves in the background also pull the eye more. |

Re: Robin
I wouldn't crop it at all. I think the original is perfect. Such a "christmas card" scene. The edge of the thing looks fine 'artistically' wonky, when you can see the end, but when it just looks like an expanse of wood, it just looks wonky.

I think that part of it is that you were there, and can maybe apply some context, whereas we only see the image, so view it in isolation. Almost every image presented here will have divided opionions and no-one would be right or wrong - that's the fun of photography. |
