Rose Silhouete
Took this one yesterday in front of my light box with a torch and lamp
Then today got my studio lights fromm ebay this morning. They are not the best but its a start so hope to do some more work with them, i know its a big learning curve but with help from this site I will improve.I know you will not hold back so let me have it ,no good friends saying thats nice to every thing you show them not the way to improve. |

Re: Rose Silhouete
I like the idea, I like the colour. The rose you've chosen has a good strong outline, it's a really identifiable shape that works well for this kind of shot. Personally, I think it could do with a strong, well defined edge but this is a bit soft, also I think I'd rather see it as a full sillouhette rather than have that little bit of light on the front of the subject.
Interested to see what else you'll come up with now you have your lights. cheers Dan |

Re: Rose Silhouete
I'm with Dan, I love the colour and lighting and the shape of the rose is good. It just needs to be sharper focused to really have the wow factor for me. Other than that it's a lovely image and I am in no doubt we'll be seeing a whole load of new experiements now you have your lights
![]() Some people, usually the ones with money to burn, go on about having the best lighting money can buy but I think you should get the lights you can afford and remember what they are for.... to give light! I have used budget lights and expensive Bowens and frankly they both put light on the subject, albeit the latter with a bit more control and things. You can still produce cracking pictures with cheap studio lights, a brolly and a reflector ![]() Enjoy, Rob

Re: Rose Silhouete
Very cool shot, saw.
I don't know if the focus is the result of compression or not. But if you are doing silhouettes, you probably should manually focus because autofocus is very difficult in low light. I like the concept and composition, and am looking forward to your submissions. skip |
