Sailing.

Took quite a few of this yachting race yesterday - seemed like pandemonium but comments on anything you might have done differently would be appreciated. Taken with a 100-400, no crop just a slight amount of USM.

Re: Sailing.

Not exactly the windiest of days - and so no real action (tho it does intrigue me as to what's happening in that boat at the back!)

Think I'd prefer to have whole of leftmost boat in shot (with a little space in front) or go for a closer crop (to emphasise the this way and that nature of the boats)

Tried to subtly add emphasis to the boat

Crop, dodge and burn, sharpen

Re: Sailing.

The ballet at the starting line is often the most exciting part of the race. You've done a nice job of capturing that and I like the compression you got using the telephoto lens. Gives the boats an appearance of even greater closeness.

The crop is ok but I like the dodging on the Bob boat giving it more prominance.
Well done, the both of you.

Re: Sailing.

Like the lens and I'm sure Bob would love a picture for himself. Do they call that tacking when they turn from side to side to move on down the channel. Good shot of that maneuver.
