Sasha 3 - caution nudity
![]() I looked for an earlier in the shoot image and couldn't find one that I liked. This I think, is a more natural pose, all of her parts are in the frame, and the shadows and highlights are not as harsh. I actually cropped the right side.....so that she wouldn't be centered. Did I crop too tightly? I know, the arm tends to lead the eye out of the picture. skip Last edited by skipper954; 09-11-2006 at 06:03. |

Re: Sasha 3 - caution nudity
This is much, much better Skip. Sasha doesn’t look uncomfortable in her pose, you have not cropped any of her limbs and where they are submerged they don’t look un-natural. The lighting is not as harsh (although I think personally the contrast is still a little high) and overall it is not as revealing making it much more interesting. You have also got some shape and lines running through the shot. Its still just a little tight on her fingers but much better than your previously posted shots.
![]() As you now know the attention to detail is important and that should carry through to the processing too. Remove the small twig/seaweed from the lower left of the frame (this could have been done at the time of shooting but no harm has been done in this case) and the bit caught in the breaking wave (top right) as they are just distractions. Also I think your chosen aperture is giving the results to large a depth of field, too much of the background/foreground is in focus when Sasha is the intended interest. I have quickly edited your shot to correct (roughly) some of these points, they are all minor changes but when completed together they offer a subtle but noticeable improvement to the end result. I also toned the shot…

Re: Sasha 3 - caution nudity
Much prefer this comp and I'd be tempted to use that arm (and not crop the leg so tight to extend the line)
![]() Rotate, clone some sea/sand back in, dodge some of the very dark areas (to give a faint hint of an outline) Hope you (or Sasha!) don't mind!

Re: Sasha 3 - caution nudity
Wow you saved the best there Skip, this is way better. I like the idea of the rotate that mark did but not as much, it is way to strong and she looks like she is desperately holding on to avoid falling out of the picture and the sea is coming to get her! But I like the idea of a smaller rotation so the idea is definitely a good one.
The pose is lovely, supports my view that less is more on nude shots. This actually shows nothing more than one breast yet it is an excellent portrayal of the nude art form. On the monitor i am looking at, i am at work, the shadows look deep but this often shows dark so I think when I get home it will probably look totally different. great stuff, easily the best IMHO. cheers, Rob
