You are very witty + help to make the forum fun [quote] Thanks, Charlotte. I have not intended to set myself up as the Pixalo wit, but in my background and where I have spent the bulk of my working life, I have been surrounded by quick-witted and often caustic humour. I guess that maybe it has rubbed off a little. I do try to ensure where I might make a flippent comment, it will not cause offence. Glad I can make you and Cotter (pervious similar remark) smile, and hopefully, others too.

Re: Sasha Business Card - caution nearly nudity
Hi Skip, I think you're right, it may well be that I was using a resized version of the one shown on here, hence a lot of compression had already taken place. The original is no doubt a lot sharper and thus the picture is probably fine as it is.
This is a partial pimp to show what I meant about putting the email address in the middle in a subdued box. I also used Trebuchet so you can visualise that as a potential font. I sized this at 4 inches width so it is twice the size as it would be for real but at 2 inches on here it would be hard to see the detail. NOTE: this is NOT a real email address, i made it up for the purpose of demonstration. Cheers, Rob ![]()

Skip
You know MONO is the only accepted format....... You could extend the canvas and use the liquify tool or similar to be able to get the crop I've shown - leaves more room for your message ![]() Last edited by spxxxx : 14-01-2007 at 19:11. |

Re: Sasha Business Card - caution nearly nudity
That is outstanding, sp.
I didn' even think of mono because I wanted the impact of the vibrant colors. Your text orientation is also something that I didn't consider. Thanks. I am thrilled that I am getting so much quality input here. skip |

Re: Sasha Business Card - caution nearly nudity
You have a point, Simon....i love mono as well. All I need is a printer that does it well. My Canon 9900 is great for color and less than great for mono.

Re: Sasha Business Card - caution nearly nudity
I think mono is appreciated more by photographers than anyone, and that colour catches the untrained eye a lot quicker and holds attention of more people for longer than does mono. Mono has a following, but not as big a following as colour IMHO.
That said, you did a fab job there Simon |

Re: Sasha Business Card - caution nearly nudity
The 2 x 3 1/2 card also hides a great deal of detail, so I am not all that concerned about too much sand, blemishes, etc, although I did do some dermatologic surgery on the original.

Re: Sasha Business Card - caution nearly nudity
Skip,
What’s the difference between headshots & portraits? Sorry I am a newbie to the camera world and don't understand the difference. Great promo for your model photography business as it has caused debate, which is a good thing to me. I like the way she (the Model) looks back at you and the font is eye-catching IMHO, what is the font called? New Camera - old brain Oldbugger |

Re: Sasha Business Card - caution nearly nudity
Oldb, a portrait need not be restricted to head and shoulders, it can be full length, waist-level, group portrait, even a pet portrait. So whilst I think you could fairly say that a head and shoulders is always a portrait, it isn't true to say that a portrait is always a head and shoulders.
For the grammatically aware among us (there's always one who chirps up!) 'head and shoulders' can be regarded as a hyponymn of the superordinate 'portraits' ![]() Skip, I would definitely go with the colour card, no question. Among non-photographers there is a strange (to us) thinking that says 'A colour photographer can also do black and white but a black and white photographer is a black and white photographer!' The aim here is not to just show a picture to a bunch of photographers, it is to drum up business and make money. Therefore go with the one that is most likely to achieve that..... colour! Cheers, Rob |

Have to disagree with you on that Rob - My cards are B+W and have drummed up quite a bit of business .......... Also IMHO if a potential model has a dozen colour cards and one B+W it will stand out from the crowd - this is what I have found from holders of mine anyway - also most of my of my business is for B+W prints when non photographers are given the proofs for both ......... Fascinating point of view, Simon. Thank you. I may print up both!
