Scary Newbie Post
![]() My first foray into learning about Macro functions. Image shrunk by hosting company btw. The full image looks a lot crisper. Go on, I can take it. Cheers, James. |

If it was a chance encounter, then it's as good as it gets. The stuff you see in National Geographic is the result of years of practice and hard work, not to mention all the toys under the sun.

you did well then dude. It's just a pity he's the same tone as your patio!
other than that, you seem to have the important bits ( the eyes ) in focus. Last edited by Gandhi; 26-10-2005 at 17:28. Reason: too short a reply! |

You have all the basics in place, you got down to eye level, the focus is firmly on the frog’s eyes and the exposure is spot on. As you say for a chance encounter it’s a belter.
A thing to watch for in the future if you are planning wildlife shots is the background, wildlife should be portrayed in the wild, so try to capture then looking as though they are in natural surroundings. Watch for concrete and buildings, paths and roads, anything man made or unnatural creeping into the frame. That’s a good start and superb first picture for a “Green Newbie”

hope you don't mind but it's dull and boring out and I'm bored so I had a little play......
![]() Just created a selection of mr frog and inversed, then desaturated. adjusted levels and boosted saturation a little. Last edited by Gandhi; 26-10-2005 at 18:07. Reason: drunken typo's |

looking back though, I think I could've just lowered the saturation of the background, rather than monochroming it.
oh well. ya live and learn. |

Well SpamPal not only do you take one bold step but it is a superb first showing ...
that is if you do not mind comment from another noob who has not yet taken the plunge - and he with a D70s with accoutrements ! Ghandi just shows what can be achieved in digital too - and so damn quickly it is scary ! Thankx for allowing me to comment. |
