Seaweed

I'm not looking for a critique of the photo here, Just the photoshop work. The image was shot by one of my friends on a recent trip to Scotland and I did the post-processing. Hence the two images in the post.....

Before

After

You certainly brought the image out, but I think the vignetting is too harsh/obvious.

I think you might both be right!

I'll have a go at making the feathering a bit more subtle tommoz and post the results when I've done it.

If anybody else fancies a go then feel free to interpret the image however you like!

I've softened the effect and dulled down the centre of the image a little bit, as I think it was the contrast between the two that was spoiling the effect......

any better?

The last shot almost nails it perfectly but could do with the top section of the centre image being dulled just a little more to remove all the whiter area, almost to the edges of the seaweed.

I must add that there is a huge difference in the pictures that you have shown here and the progress has been great to see. I bet your friend who took the shot is stuned with the improvement.

That last one is indeed very very good! I would also echo Steve's comments about the very white area towards the top of the image.

I would like to see it with a bit more saturation, and less of the vignetting effect.

Here are two variations, using the burn tool and a saturation layer just to give an idea.

Its a pity the original shot hasn't got a little bit more depth of field, the shot still has a lot of potential though.

I like the idea of matt's but I think I prefer the more natural saturation of my version. The others are just a bit too dayglo for my tastes!
