Re: Sensors

Sharp and detailed shot, and an unusual composition. I like the title, and see how the rotation fits it. Though I wonder if it should be the other way up ?

Re: Sensors

I am finding myself looking at two things here aside from the creature itself: the background (carpet or whatever) and the 'bit' to the left of the creature which doesn't seem to fit in that I can't work out if it is a blade of dried grass, a piece of the creature from elsewhere outside of the frame or what.

The fact i am looking elsewhere instead of at the main subject suggests this is not working as well as it should do. There is something that doesn't look right about the BG, the way it only comes into sharpness at the top of the picture. Is this because you have turned it upside down? The feelers themselves are sharp enough and interesting. The tips are blurred but that is just the limitation of the DoF you had to play with so no big deal there. The main body of the creature is clear and sharp along the centre of the back, again soft on the edges for same reason as above.

A very difficult subject to do real justice to so well done for having a go at this one. It's not one of your stronger macros (you have some that are superb so hard to keep that up all the time!) but it does have interest in parts. Maybe crop it down to just the main subject so we are not distracted by the BG?

Cheers,
Rob

Re: Sensors

I love the colours, including the background but as Rob says it does distract from the bug as does whatever that is on the left. More of the bug, I like the detail Thanks.

Re: Sensors

Rob Barron you are really great observer - this photo is rotated 180 degrees. and background - well it's a old trunk that i rotated. those creatures are hiding under trunks all the time, even at winter. so it's moss all around. and dead grass leaf at the left it is.
