Re: Sky Blues
Just want to clarify my point as Charlotte misunderstood it so maybe others have too.
NO WAY do I think it is helpful to have people just posting negatives and no positives or anything constructive. My point about making comments was the general point that a lot of people look but never say anything, be that positive or negative, and the reason the pictures are put here is for the feedback. Personally I try to put a bit of feedback, however small, on every picture I see in these two threads (Sharing and Critique) but I try always to look for a positive as well as any negative point and I try to comment on why I feel the negative has happened and a potential cure for a future picture in the hope it will help someone, and hopefully the taker of the icture. So I am in agreement with you Charlotte, if you hate a shot and can't give any positive or constructive feedback then that is pretty pointless. If you hate it and can say why, that can be helpful but still remember you are talking to a human being, not to an anonymous picture snapper! And I entirely agree that comments should be measured in accordance with how much you have got to know a person. I do think though that most pictures that get posted have got something positive worth applauding even if the overall picture is not to your taste so a little one-liner is worth aiming for when possible. I am always having a laugh and a joke with Fiona because I have got to know her well and she has become a friend. I think I have got to know Skip, Graham, Dave, Steve, and a few others enough to be able to have a little laugh at their expense.... knowing full well I'll get a jibe back! But I wouldn't dream of saying the same things to people I don't know so well. It doesn't matter how long they have been on Pixalo, it's about getting to know people and in a sense earning the right to say certain things. Right, I am gonna shurrup now but I think your response Charlotte was measured and worthwhile. We will never always agree with each other and sometimes not see where others are coming from but let's hold on to the one thing we all have in common: our love for photography ![]() Cheers, Rob

Furthermore telling Tim that he can’t tell you (in a polite way) that your photograph is crap is wrong as well. If you post a shot in the critique section then you are opening it up to serious comments and feedback. You can’t expect everyone to like everything about every shot and so you must take the rough with the smooth. Quite simply if you can’t stand the heat then don’t post your shots for serious critique. Again I will add that there are acceptable and unacceptable ways of wording critique, but I think we have got that message today already ![]() Quote:
In closing…Pixalo does not allow or tolerate personal attacks on ANY of its members. Everyone here is treated the same irrespective of their post counts or how long they have been members. If people cannot be civil to each other, threads will be closed and warnings will be given. Play nicely, we are all adults and lets not get personal be it intention or not ![]() I consider this topic closed and expect all further replies in this thread to be about Charlottes photo, if you have anything to add otherwise, please contact me by PM.

Re: Sky Blues
Very Good, Mark. The changes you made are not dramatic, but dramatically make this image stronger. Maybe even a cracking image.
![]() And the sky is just what Charlotte was looking for. Good job. skip |

Re: Sky Blues
Just spotted your pimp - that's great, Mark
You've certainly brought out the detail in the middle + far ground that I couldn't get, + given it the depth it needed. Also, as skip says, you've managed to bring the sky detail back (with some resulting noise on the skyline). You also took the red out of the FG grass, which has helped to direct attention further back into the pic, + I see now that was a major problem in my original, i.e. I oversaturated the grass with red which, being an emotive colour, held the eye + placed too much emphasis on the FG, thus diminishing the rest of the pic's importance. You've done a good job here Mark, thanks for taking the time to fix an image which others thought was beyond help
