Re: The Snow Queen
Beautiful, I love it David. The eyes are a tad dark, could maybe lift that area just a shade to boost those beautiful eyes of hers. But I love the rest of the lighting, such a lot of white but no burnt out areas. Well done

Re: The Snow Queen
Cracking capture, your model seems to be a lot more relaxed and happy. However I do agree with Fi your crop is a little to tight other than that a cracking shot...

Re: The Snow Queen
Excellent skin tones, in fact a cracking shot. My only beef would be the difference in tones between hands and face emphasises that she has make-up on. Maybe lose the hands?

Re: The Snow Queen
A very nice shot, but I would have to say that for me an even tighter crop would have worked better, dont get me wrong it is a great shot but I would have gone for a tighter crop as well as this shot, you probably did so ill shut up......

Re: The Snow Queen
I really like this one, you've managed to get the skin tones and the white of the fur hood spot on at the same time. Well done.
Just an aside, I saw a similar photo online the other day where they had cropped right in close to the hood and face without the hands / background and this also worked quite well. |

Re: The Snow Queen
Sorry but not for me, i think her face is slightly underexposed, either the makeup or your "post-makeup" has been poorely applied to her face, and her hands are incredibly harsh in comparrison to her face. Sorry to be so harsh so early in the new year.

Re: The Snow Queen
Whilst I can understand your comment about the make-up being a bit over the top, if the face were further exposed there would be horrible bunrt out areas in the fur of the coat. I also think it is a bit of an exaggeration to say her hands are 'incredibly harsh'. Yes, they do stand out slightly more strongly than I'd like compared to the face but anything that was 'incredibly harsh' would ruin the picture completely and these hands definitely don't do that.
Despite the make-up and the slightly darker face than I'd prefer, nothing overpowers the connection made with her lovely eyes which I still find draw my attention the first time I look at the picture. So, not saying it's perfect but it is still a very pleasant picture and one I am sure the lady concerned would be delighted to show her friends. Cheers, Rob

Re: The Snow Queen
Hi David
Hands down, this is your best image! I say hands down both figuratively and literally. I feel that her hands detract from the overall feeling of silky smoothness. I agree that perhaps a tighter crop may work, but also I would try to define the white hood a bit more and separate it from the background, or emphasize the background a tad more. But nontheless, I like this. Yes, Julia seems much more comfortable and is interacting with the camera nicely. Well done. skip |

Re: The Snow Queen
I've not read the other comments, cause I want to put my opinions, not modified.
A lovely shot, perhaps either too much makeup or too much processing, the face seems a bit too "perfect". Nice crop, good exposure, enough detail in the white hood without taking tones from the face. |

Re: The Snow Queen
Remembering the title (which presumably reflects your intentions of portrayal here, i.e. what you are trying to communicate), I think the crop is great, it makes her look snug in her jacket, while cropping out all but a hint of the BG (imaginary snow) for effect. I like the BG colour against the jacket - the jacket is perfectly discernable.
I guess the heavy make-up personifies the 'queen' part of the title, but it is made more noticeable by the stark pale hands. Perhaps gloves would have helped here + also added to the 'cold' theme of the pic. I wouldn't say her eyes are dark at all. They are the only bit of colour in the image (bar the zip + label) + effectively so. In fact, I would go even darker - nice rich pink + purple, my fave colours ![]() Her hands do look a little awkward, like she's saying "Is this how you wanted me to place them?" Perhaps if they were pulling the zip up? Excellent work with the lighting, exposure + composition, David ![]()
