Re: Snowdrops
Hi Fiona,
i really like this, love the depth of field. the only problem i have with it is, as you said the front flower, to me its to distracting, I would lighten it up a litte too, but thats only my opinion, David |

Re: Snowdrops
Fiona the one at the front is a bit distracting and I think thats a leaf on the floor at the front like the lighting on the second one. the background is just great a wall complements tha flowers

Re: Snowdrops
Fiona, I like this shot the DOF is really good, it's that first snowdrop that spoils it for me.

Re: Snowdrops
Hi Fi
Agree that the fg flower is a bad thing. Without the flower, I would lighten the fg dirt a bit and crop the top to bring the point of focus off of the horizontal midline. skip |

Re: Snowdrops
I like the composition, except for a few distracting things: (1) the front out-of-focus flower, (2) the dead leaf, (3) the BG wall, (4) centre clump of grass + twigs(?) + brown bits of grass. Also, the pic could do with rotating anti-clockwise to level out the BG brickwork.
A bit of 'gardening' could have cleaned up the ground-level, but to me the whole image has a lot of clutter - bits that do not enhance or contribute to the image (all mentioned above). If you could have gotten closer to the group of flowers which are to the left of the FG blurred flower, you'd have filled the frame with just flowers + stems, + this shorter distance between the subject + camera would also have decreased DoF to help blur out the BG brickwork more effectively. As always, just my own opinion and of course, I could be entirely wrong in my projected results per my suggested approach. I do envy you all the practice you're getting in at the mo' ![]()

Re: Snowdrops
first time out this year Charlotte!
thanx all for the comments.... cant rotate the pic as it is level.. the building in the background is actually built on a slope hence why it looks as it does...... Fi |

Re: Snowdrops
Rather agree with the comments that it looks a little messy with the BG and front flower. But I think if you remove the distractions you get a simpler, more effective shot. Less is more!
