Some photos from around London
Some shot from around london a couple of weeks ago. First 3 of street performers in Covent Garden. (little tip if you are taking photos of these guys with a pro looking camera they will spot you and will expect a contribution)
![]() ![]() ![]() This one of a little lane in the city.... ![]() Skyline from the top of the London Monument.... ![]() Last one is from Picadilly Circus. Wanted to try and get a shot of the neon signs with traffic trails passing in front. Sadly it was raining, windy and very very busy (oddly enough). I also underestimated who bright the neon signs are. If I try this again I will need a good grad filter. ![]()

The last three are very nice. I really like the road, great texture and colour to it.

Very nice - good use of enhanced colour in the mono road shot - this technique has been done to death lately, but it works very well here.
As for paying street entertainers, do so if you wish, by all means, but don't be intimidated by these guys - they make a hefty profit out of the tourists - they have to pay for the privelige of working at the Covent Garden site after all - plus, they have to pass auditions too! If you do fork out then expect (in fact, I would demand) that they do something special just for you - a particular expression or pose maybe, or interacting with a particular member of the public. If you pay them, they work for you.

I agree, don't be intimidated. The gold statue guy was the one who spotted me and did pose that shot. I was only too happy to chuck him a quid. The hippy didn't get anything as he gave a couple of Dutch guys some abuse and was asking people for notes (peace brother, yeah right). And the guitarist got 50p.

Suckerrrrr! Smack in the mouth and a week-old Maccy-D is better than they deserve, most of them.
Got accosted by one outside the BR station in Brighton a while back - bloke was most put out when I responded to his request for money to buy some food by telling him to eat the dog sitting on the pavement beside him. People generally don't realise that the DSS pays homeless people £18 per fortnight to feed these (typically, thin brown) dogs. Bet that money never goes on Winalot. Stuff the lot of them - while there are a few genuine hard-luck cases out there, the majority of them are useless scrounging Ba$tard$ who need a bit of Doctor Martin's therapy... Hmmm... I am in a bad mood for such a sunny day... |

Steve
****in awesome shots m8, I like them all, but for me it's the double yellows that make me stare at the screen. The night shot is a cracker to, i'd have liked to have been able to see just a tad more of the ghostly shoppers though. |
