Re: Southdowns view

The land area is ok but the sky is distracting for me, burnt out in parts but the colours are just a bit strange. Given the brithness of the sky and the resulting noise, I am assuming this was originally quite dark and has been lifted. Nothing wrong with that of course but maybe a selective lift leaving the sky along and just lightening the land. I could be entirely wrong, maybe you exposed for the land which has led to the sky being blown, hard to tell. Given that it was 1/500th second at f10, I think it is almost certainly the former though.

What adjustments brought out the colour like this Foxes? Would be interesting to know what post-pro work has been done so far. It could be just a tad heavy on saturation, I am intrigued to know. I am not critical of using post-pro in any way as you know. I just want to know what has been done.

Cheers,
Rob

Re: Southdowns view

Interesting processing. What is Picasa David? I haven't seen that but I have heard a couple of people mention it.

Cheers,
Rob

Re: Southdowns view

We have three layers here, and I share Rob's thoughts on the sky. The middle is hazy (the mist rising, no doubt) and the bottom is such a contrast that it is almost alien to the rest of the shot.

I think there is the potential to get more out of the image, perhaps with a replacement sky, and some further work on the rest of the image. Maybe a crop of most of the sky.

Maybe you could post the original so we can see what journey you have made to get here?
