This does rather look as though the spider fell in the ink and is now writing as it crawls across the page.... which is exactly how my English teacher once described my handwriting! Hard to believe that as an adult I am now a member of the British Guild of Caliigraphers!

My handwriting was terrible until about age 16 when I realised I should stop trying to do joined-up Berol script like had been drummed into me as a young kid...
If I just concentrated on writing neatly, I got neat handwriting. Sounds ridiculous but I'd been struggling for years without realising that joined up writing just didn't work for me.

I was thus a little dismayed when I recently had to sign off a 'handwriting policy' for the school I'm a governor at... and the policy was basically that the school should teach Berol-style 'joined up' handwriting. Apparently we had little choice as it's been deemed the proper way to do handwriting by the powers that be. Ah well.

I admit it's quicker if I join the letters up - but that's diddly-squat use to anyone trying to interpret the resulting seismograph!
