Re: Spot In The Sun
Well spotted Ray - I bet that the light did not last very long.
The clouds are excellent, and the idea is good too, but there are two things that I think might improve it. First the sky is over-saturated above the clouds. Makes it look artificial. Second the subject is too central. I'd crop about 50% of the shadow area at the bottom of the shot - this will bring the horizon more to the third, and also I'd crop the right hand side by about 30% to the small patch of light to the RHS of the main area of sunshine. These two crops will give a better composition whilst maintaining your idea.

Re: Spot In The Sun
Good title and not a bad shot but for me the sky is too heavily processed which has created a halo along the horizon and over the house....Also the blue of the sky looks a little strange. The foreground up to the house looks fine, it's just the sky for me. Maybe it's worth working on though and possibly cropping some of the foreground to put the horizon on a third.

Re: Spot In The Sun
Well it's getting there, though there is still a halo around the building and to be honest I think I would have cropped from the left which would have left most of the shaded field still in shot....but that's just my opinion.

Re: Spot In The Sun
That is certainly more what I had in mind
Kenco's thoughts are equally valid - I prefer the crop from the RHS to keep more sunshine in the shot, and the trees add a bit of interest to the horizon. If you can reduce the halo you have nailed it for me. |

Re: Spot In The Sun
I like the scene very much but think the framing of the shot is wrong and the processing just a little harsh. You did well to 'see' the picture and I think you have already done the majority of the post processing work required. Some very minor tweaks gave me this result...
![]() Different crop, to keep the interest and contrasts but without the unnecessary blank at the bottom of the shot. I also reduced the saturation of the blue and lightened the shadows too. Adding a frame to the final image always seem to finish thing off a little better too...even if you are not very keen on a particular design a simple frame helps. All personal though so the changes may or may not be liked
