Re: sticks

Hi Fi

First of all, the horizon is midline.

Secondly, there is the mono sky, then the land, which in it's own way is also mono.

Then the sticks are central.

And the horizon is tilted a tad, I think. Or else the martini has acted.

But the real deal here is that this doesn't talk to me. That sounds trite, but there is just nothing here that makes me want to spend time.

Probably others will think differently.

Re: sticks

Much as I hate to agree with Skip <g> I'm afraid he has summed up what I think entirely. Sorry Fi, I think your initial feelings from the pic were right and I cannot suggest anything that would really give this a lift. Yes you could crop so the sky is a third and the sticks are less central etc but essentially it will still be a bland sky, a bland piece of land and some not very interesting sticks.

But hey, these days it is good to see you still pull out something less than great now and again. Help to keep you humble now you are a professional

Cheers,
Rob

Re: sticks

It's not all doom and gloom! the framing is good.
I think it needs a title! something like, "Dying Giraffe" or "The Pheonix" to get people thinking.

Re: sticks

Late as always,,
Did you crop this or was it like a 16.9 ratio? What camera did you use?

Re: sticks

I just recieved a new point and shoot that can take a 16.9. Anyway,,your picture isn't that non talking to me, It has it's own content that talks to you, and looking at a newer ship just beyond a forgotten port strikes a history pose, which I like. I would have thrown out the standard act for B+W and maybe toned it or left in a lot of mid-toned greys. It seems to have a very black base, but good content, try another angle.
