My current favourite. It literally says "street" but doesn't really say "street".

The first for me, as in the context of the competition title it should do very well. It's got great texture and contrast and I really like the silhouette and shadow of the walker. I like the steps although I'm sure some folk would say they're a distraction. I'm not really sure any of the others do it as most of them seem more like alleys.

Its a tricky theme. While I was the person who chose it, I didn't realise that "Street" lliterally means "Street". I was hoping to do some street photography, but it doesn't quite say "street". As nice as the first shot is, someone else has already taken a similar shot. I would prefer to be unique

The first one is probably the best really. While the girl shot is nice, its just a girl on the street. The same for the guys, just some people on the street. Gah Its about this time when something goes click in my head and I get an idea....... *bangs head on desk* ... Nothing yet

I like the first one, it's been done before, but it's well executed and suits the theme I would think. I like the range of tones in the one with the steps, but it has to be the feet shot for me. I think you had actually 'clicked' with the bird in the boots!

I like the first one, where is the top view of the street.

Where can I found the info of that "street" competition?

I prefer the next to last one, the orange light coming through the window and the legs passing by on the street. This picture provokes so much thought about what goes on under and around the street, how it interacts and yet people can pass by oblivious. This would be my definite choice as it is so strong.

Steve beat me to that one I also thought that was an excellent one for basically the same reason.

I think this says street more than road or anything else, because, to me, a street is something that is in a tightly packed city. (A road is in the contry-side. A boulevard or avenue in a city too, but in the grand or cerimonial part of the city.) And when you get windows and living space down at "street level" like this, it just exudes that tight and cramped feeling. The passer-by also adds to this feeling.

Really a great job, Pete

BTW: This would work for the arcitecture theme as well

Thanks I think my heads spun around far too much with this street theme that I'll be glad to go out and find some nice architecture to shoot
