Re: Studio Dogs
Now that is cute! The out of focus and resigned expression of the black dog makes it for me.

Re: Studio Dogs
Green thing! thats his toy lol I did try to but then it made the shadow underneath look false so it looked better as is rather than messed with.

Re: Studio Dogs
I confess to not being a big pet photo lover so I don't look at shots like this and think 'Ahhh, that's cute' or whatever. So my observations are only about the technical side of things, I can't really judge how much emotional impact is achieved as the subject matter wouldn't do that to me anyway.
Technically I am not sure I like the blurred nose on the first dog. It's not just the nose but the front of its face which is blurred. Agreed the eyes are sharp but I think I'd prefer the whole of his face to be in focus. You'd still get the other dog blurred as you are quite close to the first. I think the coat of the first dog is a difficult colour as the centre of the top its head and the side of its neck are blending into the background whilst the dark ear is blending into the black face of the dark dog behind. I also find the (presumably) trailing leg of the back dog distracting as it juts out of the side of the first dog to the left of the picture. On that point, I am not at all sure about the crop of this image. I'd either like to have the whole of at least one of the dogs (preferable) or a tighter crop so it didn't look like ends of legs were missing. Not sure whether my comments are what you are looking for Summer as a dog-lover would probably like this simply because its two lovable dogs. On the other hand maybe I am looking at it a bit more dispassionately. I'll let you decide ![]() If I had to choose, I'd far prefer the black dog to the first one but what I know about dogs is not worth bothering about LOL. Cheers, Rob

Re: Studio Dogs
Agree with the points Rob has made, I would also if possible take the dogs without collars on as again they are quite distracting. I would like to see a bit more of the dogs bodies and legs and a bit less space above the heads. I do think the positioning is good.

Re: Studio Dogs
Must defend myself here, just to point out Summer, I was careful to make sure I said I was not a pet PHOTO lover. I never said I don't like animals! I believe animals are all part of God's beautiful creation and wouldn't dream of deliberately hurting or mistreating one. Indeed I would like to have a dog but living in a flat with no garden and being out at work during the day I think it would be cruel for the poor dog to be stuck inside during the day and only taken out for a walk in the morning and evening. Dogs should be kept for the benefit of the dog, not just for the enefit of the owner.
That's my opinion anyway ![]() Cheers, Rob |

Re: Studio Dogs
yeah yeah Rob, we all know you hang out of your window at night dangling a piece of steak for all the neighbourhood dogs then cruelly whip it away when they jump up to get it
