Re: Sunset in Malta Marsaxlokk

On my monitor the colours are just a tad too saturated for my tastes, but that is a personal taste, so take it with a pinch of salt. Other than that it is beautiful. Good to see another bike fan......if you look in my gallery you'll see the bike I had for the summer & sold again to save my license

Dave just hates color. Nevermind him.

Re: Sunset in Malta Marsaxlokk

Hi Joe

This is my first critique here, so bear with me.

I like most of this. The sky and water add tremendous depth to the image. Dave notwithstanding, the colors are magnificent. You did a fine job managing the exposure with the bright sun.

My only change would be to move the sun off center. In general, the rule of thirds is a good rule (to be broken sometimes). That move would make a much more dramatic image, I think. But it might take away a lot to crop it now. So, it is just something of which to be aware next time you frame in camera.

(You are going to learn that I am a big fan of the rule of thirds, ad nauseum )

Re: Sunset in Malta Marsaxlokk

Skippers comments have hit the nail on the head for me, I would also have framed the shot with the coastline on the lower third as well as the sun to one side. You certainly have the camera control though as metering for this kind of shot to get a good exposure without blowing the highlights is more tricky than most people believe.
