Super blue infrared

I've been working with this camera out in the very bright light. I set a new WB and put a polerizer on it. The blue skys look great even tho you don't see one here. you have to save those babies for every once in awhile. My purple picture of the old building told me I need to sit down and fix this problem. So I walked around the yard and took a few pictures. This was the most interesting, it has a slight detail adjust from topaz which really fits into my run thru ACR. What do you think, I won't set the WB balance as I stopped when I got a good one and use exposure to take the pictures which seem to work OK.

Thanks for dropping by and I hope you know a little more about what I am doing with this camera. I do need to learn it limits and I haven't done so.

Re: Super blue infrared

Oh yes!

This is brilliant, the topaz has worked on the details well, without going over board. Like the tones and colours a lot

Re: Super blue infrared

Thanks for some good input. I didn't look for the creamy, just that the topaz adjust looks like noise ninja. Too much and it smooths out, tweak and then in this picture the yellow detail popped out. I did think about the smooth look and what and how I could use it, maybe a masking tool. These cameras are all about making affects but getting a non post processed picture is rewarding. I am glad I was able to pull this exposure control to easy instead of taking more then two shots to make it look good enough. One shot is what I like as I use manual and should watch my meter in my view finder more. Plain IR looks good just under 0 like about -1 or -2. Watching the histogram can really help. I need to take more pictures with this camera, it hasn't been set up this good sense I've had it but then I have only used it to mix with the other colors.

If you like this sort of style then it has worked well. Me personally I don't like it, too artificial, just not my thing.

Re: Super blue infrared

Yes - will be interesting to see more shots with your new settings. I must look into histograms on my IR, as that may give me a hint when I make a wrong WB choice

Well well,,, I well certainly remember, and the day you say this is an improvement, it well be worth the effort. I follow your creative trail and enjoy your honest and colorful banter Colin. The comment about "too artificial" is a good one. I tend to ease off now days from some pictures I feel need to have a clear meaning of why I like it or took it in this case in the first place. Now , as I was thinking of doing a redo, it's in the bag. I think I will fiddle this picture maybe one more time.

Boofers, As you say I like to be honest and say it as it is, no offence is ever meant. Picture is good but definitely not for me, if you and others like it then that is good. That is what the Critique Forum is for.

Re: Super blue infrared

Yea, writing for the hard to make spelling is a trial in it self. Now That you eased off of my master of tipping old bird baths and some of the pressure of work, I will love to go home and prowl the garden for and interesting picture. Last thought before I closed down and hit the sack, I thought about a macro lens on this camera. I'm glad your a good sport and want to keep things clear, as I am on the hunt for a better picture and it sounds like fun. I never ever thought you were tripping me up, only for fun maybe. Good photography comes from those who seek. When I got home I had gone thru some pretty heavy rain, so I picked this picture and cropped out the wire's, when all done I noticed it has a halo on the truck. I process this the same way with less Topaz but with a blue sky. I still believe that with some for sight and thought about what kind of pictures I take they might catch on as another infrared style picture.

Thanks for your time and comments, I am open as always to any ideas.

Boofers, Yes I quite like this image, There is good contrast with the blue sky against the leaves making a pleasant image.
Colin.

PS. I also do Tripadvisor from time to time.

Your kind, it was a little blurry from camera movement, I am glad you can see that if I put enough hard or just poke along work into it I might pull in a good picture. It gets real hot and bright around here and I like the way the polerizer worked on this. Glad to hear about you being a good trip advisor as I will be in your heart of the woods next may thru june. Dates unsure, the wife is going for sure so if I want to keep her I'll be getting lost for sure. Thats what some of this is about, "do I want to bring my IR mix kit" with me. Have the color no problem, but beauty comes in all colors and I might actually be sad if I leave it behind.

Re: Super blue infrared

I like the second image and is nicely composed in the frame. The processing is a nice look. However for me, I am still preferring the first image. Something just works on how it came out.

Re: Super blue infrared

Hi guy's,,,,been missing the place. Real busy retiring, never thought it would change my life like it has. This picture was about processing and what I liked about #1 was the way the flower cluster stood out with some seperation. I know this is late but had to talk pictures. I have learned and worked real hard to just concern myself with exposure and not artisic addishions. Once I was a filter freak and used them lots. My addishions were just blends from my IR cameras and that is light, "Exposure". Oh well, I guess using filters for a good reason would be the way to start out again and then let it rip if I can loosen up. I know everybody works hard on proper exposure. That is exposure in the camera and filters in processing
