Re: Suz
Hi David
Dang, man, how do you get such great models???? I like the general composition, the angle of her arm and back, and the subtle angle that her face makes, but I have some compositional problems with her arms. It looks like her right hand is someone else's, coming from nowhere, grabbing at her breast. This is always a problem with the arm farthest from the camera. The pose has to show some connection of the arm to the subject. And she looks like she is pulling her breast rather than gently resting her hand on it. Her left arm is cut off below the elbow. This is not terrible here, but as a general rule, never cut off arms or legs below the joint. It looks amputated then. As I said, though, it is not bad here. There is a distracting dark shadow under her right eye. And the moles. This is always a problem for me. In general, they are part of the model, and I hesitate to photoshop them for that reason, so I usually ask the model if she wants them removed. A little local anesthetic, a sharp blade and a bandaid usually does the job ![]() Finally, this is a nice soft photo, but I personally would like to see a bit more light shadow to make Suz more 3 dimensional. skip |

Re: Suz
I can't really get a lot from this one Dave, sorry. The lighting is very flat which isn't helping the fact that the model is pretty flat too! Her hand in that position doesn't really achieve anything. It looks like an uncomfortable attempt to cover her left nipple and her forearm flat across an already pretty flat chest is reducing her 'feminine curves' such as they are. I don't mean that in any way disrespectfully but she has quite a boyish look anyway with the short hair, etc and this isn't helped much by her twisting virtually 90 degrees from the hips upwards.
I am sure you have other shots from this shoot which do Suz a lot more justice than I feel this one does. Apart from the slight shadow under the right eye that Skip has mentioned, she has a much stronger shadow to the right of her nose which is not very flattering. You've taken a lot better and I am guessing you took better in this shoot ![]() Cheers, Rob
