Doesn't really work, for me. Far too blurry.

Works for me mate
Although a slower shutter speed may have produced a more visually pleasing effect (for me anyway), you've still produced a nice image. Was it a circular polariser? And did you have it set correctly? I can still see some reflections in the water, doesnt look like the polariser was used in full effect

I would have liked to see more of it though, maybe a wider crop would have looked better, that bit of water at the top right is intriguing me but is cut off prematurely.
It looks like you've taken it from a high point. Maybe getting closer to the ground and looking up a bit more?

Still, a nice image which I would be pleased to have taken, and I can also fully understand about grumpy wives and having to stop start

Where was it taken BTW?

thanks for the input guys.

i wish i could've gotten lower, unfortunately the tripod which i borrowed from a mate couldn't go lower than this. the waterfall behind would have been nice to include, but i was more interested in the swirls lower down, but i think you're right a wider lens or lower angle would have let me have both.

polariser wise, im very new to them so still trying to work it out really, will try again next time tho.

was taken in south wales, somewhere near neath, but i'm not sure exactly. started with pont.... but then so many places do!

i like that too, works well for me though i can see what GfK means, but i like that effect, its like the ferrari i did with the zoom blur effect, not everyone liked that...

only thing I'd have liked to see was something in the foreground, it's a bit empty there just now.

But don't your think a more subtle effect on a shorter exposure would have had a more dramatic impact?

I always find that when photographing moving water I take several shots of the same loaction with different shutter speeds and then chose the one that I like the best when viewed at home in high detail. I have been caught out in the past relying on the small screen to chose a suitable photo and then been disapointed when I later viewed it at home.

well....i went out with a friend as well that day, we both use d70' s and were sharing a tripod, so i took it using his camera, meaning i could only take a couple. the others were at 4 secs, but look similar, i'll dig them out and post them too if i can find them. the ones i took at that location with my camera were on a monopod, so only at 1/10-1/15 and didnt really work so well.

i'm definately going to take more though as i fancy getting one with some autum leaves in it, so these comments are gratefully recievied and i'll try to think more carefully next time.
