Re: tantallon shoreline
Was that taken @ seacliff?
I've been trying to find out how to get in there for ages. Convinced you can get a nice sunset shot from there. although as stephano pointed out, maybe best to wait till they get rid of the scaffold. I did notice it on the castle face last few times I've driven past. |

Re: tantallon shoreline
I like the shades of blue here. Good composition. I would like, maybe, to see a bit of detail in the shadows, though, but not too much.....just right

Re: tantallon shoreline
Yup, I'm with Skip on that, I'd like to see a touch of detail in the dark areas and would like to clone out that scaffold but other than that it's got strong power in the swirling sea and good colour too. Good to see the horizon nice and straight as well.
Good work Fi :o) |

Re: tantallon shoreline
thanx folks.........
Ok the scaffolding..... i am not sure that it is a scaffold i thinks is a winch for something, as it hangs right over the cliff. Orange... it wasnt taken at seacliff it was taken from Tantallon castle itself, looking north, and yep the scaffolding is still in place on the front of the castle. Horizons..... yipee i think im actually getting the hang of this photography malarky cos i dont have to straighten that many these days lolol once again thanx muchly folks Cnc always appreciated. Re: tantallon shoreline
I just thought I'd give it a tiny tweak Fi and see if it helped. I have lifted the darkest areas a touch, not so that they become all bright and detailed as that would lose the effectiveness of the shot but just so we can see a little detail in there. I adjusted the contrast a touch as well as the saturation, only a tiny amount and then used history brush on the whitest part of the waves as they lost detail when using curves. I also cloned out the ironwork, whatever it was, so that it wasn't quite so distracting.
What do you think? Cheers, Rob ![]()

Re: tantallon shoreline
Rob and Fi
I like the pimp that Rob did, except for the missing crane. I am going to be a devils advocate here. Someone said yesterday that we don't always have to clean up a photo to make it perfect. The sense of an image is sometimes augmented by it's imperfections. My gut reaction to this one is that it really lost feeling by removing the crane. Maybe even the crane was the focal point, emphasizing the encroachment of development upon a pristine scene. I know, it wasn't really development, just repair, but that was the sense I got. Whatcha think, guys? skip |

Re: tantallon shoreline
yeah i see where you are coming from Skip......... not sure if i agree with you or not but i do know that i did not remove the crane in the first place because i didint see it as a flaw in the picture. sometimes landscapes and shorelines need something to break them up.
