Re: Their Spring finest
I'm in two minds about this one, Paul
As an image, it's pretty enough + the black BG makes it quite striking. On the other hand, I'm not sure that a solid black BG suits it, the flowers being all delicate like, and especially as your subject is a branch, indicating nature/garden/growing (not picked flowers), hence the BG seems incongruous with the nature of the subject Hope that makes sense! In short, I like it as an image to hang on a wall, but as a nature image I'm not sure I like the false BG. Also not sure about the pink border ... a bit prissy ![]() Technically (exposure, colour, DoF etc.) it's great

Re: Their Spring finest
Prissy is a combo word Paul, taking the words 'Pretty' and 'Sissy' and putting them together to make a word which means pretty but a bit too sweet.
I don't think it is prissy but I do know what Charlotte means and she is only talking about the border, not the flowers. I think the colours of the flower are lovely, the angle is excellent and the lighting good so all in all works great. For me I would go with the same colour frame but just a thin line and not so OTT. No need as the flowers hold the attention and the frame should complement, not be something we look at, if that makes sense. Lovely shot Paul, like it ![]() Cheers, Rob

Re: Their Spring finest
yep i like this a lot, unlike Charlotte i think the black background really works with the flowers and completes the image so that the eye is not distracted by anything else going on and can concentrate on the lovely flowers.....
agree with the frame its a bit toooo much ![]() cracking image tho spot on! Fi |

Re: Their Spring finest
OK that makes sense and I can see now that the pink border is really a bit too wide. I have another one in the works and will slim it down a bit so that it compliments rather than dominates.
Thanks again. - Paul |
