Re: Tools of the Trade

Nicely comp'd with the lobster pots in the corner and the colours of the stack of fish boxes echoed by the lifeboat and yacht. Little too much sky for me and would've preferred a little space around base of lobster pots

Think the polarised sky provides more of a contrast to the pots and boats. Rotate CCW, crop, Grad, desaturate the reds/cyans, little D&B

Re: Tools of the Trade

I think that Marks change makes the sky too prominent, and takes away from all the good stuff on the ground and water.

Fi's is better, but maybe just a tad of lighteneing of the FG would be good.

Re: Tools of the Trade

Lovely shot, I agree with some of the comments a slightler lighter foreground and a bit more space under the pots.

Here's my try at doing that ...

The extra foreground was simply cloned in (as you can tell), I used a levels layer with a mask made from inverting the blue channel to lighten the darker areas without changing the lighter areas.

I really like how the colourful right hand side contrasts with the mostly brown pots on the left hand side. The light is lovely as well.
