Tried some wildlife shots...

I was in the bush for christmas, and took a long the 500mm so that I could try some wildlife shots that are more than just proof of sighting something... Would love some crit and thoughts on this? I will post some more over the next couple of days, including lion and elephant, but for now a beautiful zebra that was drinking below the lodge.

Very simple composition, but I really wanted to get his face full frame and with good detail.

Slightly bigger version:

Re: Tried some wildlife shots...

As you said Tim, it's a good, simple composition which has nice detail and a softly blurred BG to set the zebra forward. Simplicity is important sometimes and this works well because of it.

There's nothing in the picture that tells us you were out in the wild and the sad fact is a lot of people looking at this without the benefit of reading your comments will simply assume it is a zoo or wildlife park somewhere but the important thing here is that the shot itself is a good natural history record of a lovely animal. You've done that very well.

Cheers,
Rob
