Two Moods of Jules - Caution - Contains Nudity
![]() ![]() I am pushing the Pixalo envelope here. Sasha on the Beach was really reloaded by Steve, so I should be able to submit an image today. But I wanted these two images together for your comments, so I won't submit another for 48 hours. Hope that CREW is ok with this. One of the things I like to do with models is to set up scenarios. When the sun finally came out, I used natural lighting and set up the following scenes. "You were out partying, and woke up in the morning in a strange bed. You had a terrible hangover, but more importantly, you don't remember who you were with or what you did. You hate losing control like that." Yes, this is doctored to heighten the mood. The next plot was that "you woke up in the morning, and just before your boyfriend went to work, he kissed you, told you that he loved you, and gave you a red rose." OK, guys (that is generic, not gender specific), what do you think? Skip |

I adore these shots skip and you already know this. Both have a story and leaves the viewer wondering what it is. that is something a great photo should have!
two shots i would be proud to have taken, and goes to prove what someone said in one of your other shots...that less sometimes is more. WTG Fiona |

![]() I would say the next step is thinking of good titles/captions for these photos that tell the viewer what the photo is about without the senarios you have writen. Sothing like; #1. The morining after. #2. Made to feel special. Anyway, great shots skipper |

Re: Two Moods of Jules - Caution - Contains Nudity
The first one is pretty much spot on apart from you cutting her left foot off. The framing is such that you could have included it all. That being said the pose, the expression, the setup (with the underwear on the floor) and the lighting all make the image portray what you were after
The second one also tells the story well and is fairly well executed, using the light to great effect at telling us the time of the day shows it was well thought out and planned. Again one small detail is the harshness of the highlights, I agree that you need the contrast to show the morning light but the difference is just a little to much and some more softness would have been more flattening, an overall darker image with less highlights would have worked better. Maybe you could re-process the image with that in mind if it was shot in RAW and you like the suggestion? HTH

Cracking shots skip. Really like the angle on the 1st one & as others say takes you so much further than just a photo....you start to imagine the before & after scenes also

Re: Two Moods of Jules - Caution - Contains Nudity
Interesting work here Skip. The first one doesn't do anything for me BUT I can entirely see where you were coming from and what you were trying to achieve. I DO think you achieved it fully, just not my cup of tea so that is only a personal thing, not a negative about the picture (though i do agree to crop off half the foot was a bit naughty!)
The second one is much more to my own taste, you can see the pleasant mood of the picture. She has clearly been left with a warm febout the night before! My only problem with it is the very harsh light on the end of her pillow which detracts horribly from her lovely warm-toned face. There are some highlights on her face too that are a bit bright but I can live with those, it's the pillow that really gets in the way as the brightness draws my eye to it instead of letting me settle on the lovely face. You have created pictures that tell the stories you were after so they have been very successful on that front. Good work :o) Cheers, Rob

Re: Two Moods of Jules - Caution - Contains Nudity
Thank you all for your comments.
Re: the missing foot - I frequently take a small ladder on inside shoots to get a different angle. I was at the top, standing on tiptoes to try to get everything in the frame, and just missed the foot. Re: harshness of second image. I agree. Too much sharpening and the pillow highlight is offputting. Fortunately, I save my images as PSD's, so I don't have to go back to the raw image and start over. All of my layers are still there. So I unsharpened, undid my previous levels and reapplied them. I like this better. The softness of the image matches her feelings now. Thanks again
