Re: Vietnam Villager
Its an interesting people shot. Can you give some details surrounding the shot, the circumstances in which it was taken and the aim/purpose of the shot? I am sure there is a story in there trying to get out

Re: Vietnam Villager
Nice shot, but not much more of a snap in my opinion... Sorry if that is harsh, but the lighting is way off, the over exposed section behind the kid ruins anything the photo had. Again, sorry if thats harsh, it's not personal, just my opinion.

Tim
Thanks for your input. Honest criticism is what I want. Your points are well taken. And Tim, it is good that you apologized for seeming harsh, because the written word is void of emotion, and so I appreciate that. But don't be afraid to voice your opinion. Somehow, I don't think that you will have a problem with that ![]() skip |

Re: Vietnam Villager
Again a nice subject and the background does frame it. Nothing wrong with a grab much better to get the best shot you can than miss the moment worrying about technical or composition issues. If you had a bit more time then I would have opened up a bit to throw the background out, maybe shot from a lower angle and defintely balanced it out with some fill.
Here is a quick rough and ready edit of what that might have looked like: ![]() |

Re: Vietnam Villager
Thanks Vinny
I didn't even think about shooting from a lower angle, but you are absolutely right. And of course, a narrower dof would have been preferable. In looking back at my exif, I shot at 1/100 @ f/7.1 with a short focal length. We live and learn. Thanks for your input. skip |

Re: Vietnam Villager
I think as a portrait pic the edit works better, however you don't get the sense of place that you have in the first image. It just depends what you're going for, if it's travel then the first, if it's portraiture then the second!
