Waiting for the Phone

Thoughts on this one...

It was taken whilst waiting for a bus in Brasil somewhere (can't remember exactly where). Although it is titled 'waiting for the phone', the boy is actually waiting for his mum to finish work. She was working just behind the open door.

Anyway be honest on any feelings about the image.

Re: Waiting for the Phone

Good work Loly, no need to tell the story, the picture does it very nicely :o)

It's a well-seen composition and works really well, great stuff.

Cheers,
Rob

Re: Waiting for the Phone

Thanks guys!

The reason i told the story Rob, was because (i think it was a post by you) i read that it would be nice to have the tale behind the image.

Anyway, thanks again.

Re: Waiting for the Phone

Thanks for that loly, I hear what you're saying. What I actually meant was just the feelings about what the photographer was attempting to achieve rather than the story the picture is trying to tell BUT your thoughts are equally valid and do help so thanks :o)

Cheers,
Rob

Re: Waiting for the Phone

I rather like the composition here. The phones and structures point toward the boy, and the red structure prevents the eye from wandering out of the frame.

Good clean lines. My only problem is that if the boy is the subject, and I think that he is, he is much too small. I don't get a real feeling about him. Can't see his face or eyes, and that takes away from the impact. Yes, his body language does tell us something, but I really have to look for it.

Re: Waiting for the Phone

I understand what you are saying Skip, and it would have been good to get a close-up. I like the distance in this one as it adds to the loneliness of the scene. The obvious one is on the hi-res the boy obviously has more detail, but still you are viewing the smaller version so that argument isn't too valid.

Thanks for the crit, and have a good christmas all, i'm signing off now as i'm starting my xmas journey back to the u.k today and may not be on until the new year (tho i'm sure i'll find a brief moment).
