Re: Wattle native Australia
interesting plant, I have some shots of something like it. To compare I can tell you it was a darkened subject aginst a brighter back ground which is interesting in it self. Your picture is all green to me, and in that respect needs alittle spot lightening. Good try, but very hard subject.

Re: Wattle native Australia
Interesting plant VK but it is looking very flat and with a strong colour cast which is taking away from the lovely detail. I have had a little play with it but please bear in mind I have no idea what the original looked like as I don't know that plant. I hope it is something close to it anyway. I have done nothing other than use the curves tool to get rid of the colour cast and lift the dynamic range. Hope you like it,
Cheers, Rob

Re: Wattle native Australia
um what colour is it supposed to be tho? the Bg looks desaturated compared to the flower ( even taking the cast into consideration)... but hey you are already better than me at macro! lol

Re: Wattle native Australia
This is of course not a wattle but a Banksia (Banksia integrifolia I believe,)
The colour of the emerging flower tends to be yellow with a greenish tinge that progressively loses the green to become a fairly intense yellow. See it at Banksia integrifolia - Coast Banksia. where the more immature flower is at the top right. Sometimes the greenish tinge is more subdued. My comment about this photo is simply that the flower itself lacks luminosity. It would be seen to better advantage if it were sunlit, but otherwise the shot is good. There may be the very slightest of greenish blue cast but not too significant. |

Re: Wattle native Australia
From what I can see looking at the picture you have linked to, my pimped version is pretty much right. I gather wattle is a round shaped flower of the genus Acacia.
That's as far as my attempts to be botanical will ever go so don't bother baffling me with science as to its history or whatever LOL. It doesn't grow over here in the UK anyway so I am not about to come across it on a country walk ![]() Cheers, Rob |

Re: Wattle native Australia
Right on, Rob! I didn't see your version before I posted. Started to comment and left it unfinished for a time and didn't look further before I posted.
I'm no botanist but this banksia as very common through coastal areas in Oz. It's a bit like some of the many other varieties so I had to check the leaf shape first. Really like your rework. It gives it that luminous look. |
