Re: Wedding by Lake
very unique perspective on the bride and groom. I am not sure about the water/land splitting the shot down the middle though

Re: Wedding by Lake
That's a nice enough shot Dave, but the Groom is a bit lost against the BG. Not much you could do about that I guess.
Unusually, I'm wondering if colour would be better.

Re: Wedding by Lake
Like this shot Dave, nice and creative and great reflection. The only thing I'd make a point about is the fact that the hill / verge behind is almost the same grey tone as the people's faces, meaning that I feel their heads are a little lost, especially the groom. Perhaps just burn it back a bit.
Good shot EDIT: Great minds Graham

Re: Wedding by Lake
Dave, I do weddings as well and I hate to critique in case it damages your self esteem when presenting the pics...but here is my thought on the attached picture.
First off it is a beautiful shot, I love the reflection in the water and I know the couple will love the photo. To me it looks almost fake/sketched/painted? Perhaps a little to much unsharp mask if you used it? Otherwise a brilliant shot, nice work! |

Re: Wedding by Lake
I too think the BG needs attention, burned back a bit as it looks a little weird, but a relatively minor niggle in a really enjoyable shot (usually wedding images leave me totally cold!)

Re: Wedding by Lake
Tend to agree with the others but, since it is the 100-400, I would have liked to know the exif. I don't think the IQ is up to that of the lens unless you have lost some in the conversion?

Re: Wedding by Lake
I really think this image would look really good with them in partial color and everything just as is.
Just a thought. |

Re: Wedding by Lake
I genuinely can't imagine this shot looking less good in colour but am happy for you to show us and prove me wrong! I like the shot a lot, the comp is excellent and the 50/50 split actually doesn't bother me here because of the reflection. But the lack of enough tones to make the groom's face stand out is spoiling that area a bit and I think the coloured version might show it a bit more. Maybe it just needs a different balance of channel mixing?
Cheers, Rob |
