Winters Window
hi,
i just wanted to know what anyone thought about the composition on this one, i have been told (right or wrong) that for pictures like this, the interest should be on the right hand side, as the eyes look left to right, i would like to hear others views on this. thank you Boon Edit:cant remember the size of this one, please remove if too big Last edited by Boon; 15-01-2006 at 21:33. |

Hi Stev - this is a great composition in my view - it appears, possibly a little soft on the focus to me and perhaps the window could have figured slightly smaller ? But it does have great impact.
I suppose you could reverse it to show on the left side to compare and check what you have been told about eyes going left to right - that might only apply to normal people ? (Rightly or wrongly). I like ! |

I rather like the composition but, as Venomater said, the window is a touch too dominant in the image. Image is a bit soft as shown here and should be corrected for verticals IMHO. Increase contrast and saturation a little, sharpen and add simple border too.
Something like this :- (you should be able to do much better from the source as the image you posted here is pretty low quality at only 37kb for a 800x600 image).

Looks very over-JPEG'd to me - hideous artefacting. When you re-size your images take care to select the settings as laid out in the 'how-to' elsewhere on here.
Good composition and use of colour though - a bit more care in the post-processing is needed. |
