Working Class

Don't know if this is really good enough for here, I like it nevertheless. It was taken over the Bank holiday weekend, not sure which lens as I did change them once or twice, was definately @70mm and think the 70-300. I love the look of consentration on this guys face but feel the bankside background being so in focus lets it down slightly. The train was standing still, hence the lack of motion blur, but it was the expression on his face while watching the track ahead clearing. It is slightly cropped on the left as a guy walked into frame.
handheld
1/15sec
F16
Iso 800
@70mm.

I really like it, the high ISO really adds character. Why don't you add some motion blur to the background? I think it will improve the photo.

hope you don't mind...I will delete if you wish

I think it's a great shot as is. I don't think the blurring adds to it. I just find it more distracting. Nice shot Ken.

Thanks Dave, I don't mind at all, never really looked at that side of PS (deliberately bluring). I'm not sure myself now and can't make up my mind, not that you haven't done a good job, just can't decide. Thanks again.
Thanks Jewel much appreciated.
The "Working Class" of the title refers to 1st class, 2nd clas and the engine being the working part, rather than this guys social standing. Just incase anyone was wondering.

I also like this one.
The B&W treatments lends itself well to this shot. Also the noise from the high ISO enhances this. Having said that the noise is very good for 800 ISO.

Ken, can I ask why you shot at f16 and 1/15s.
If you had opened the aperture up the background would be out of focus and you would have had a faster shutter speed.

Still, it's a cracking shot.

I think that answers your question Garnock.

It happened a little on the quick side, I did get a couple of other pics but by then there were people passing. I also wanted to get much of the train in but never really thought of the bankside at the time

Considering that's 1/15 at 70mm you've got a steady grip there mate. Nice one.

Nice shot, works well in B&W.

I agree that the bluring is unessesary, adds litte to the picture and distracts.

Regards
