Working Waterfront

No one was sitting still for this picture. Too much work to do. Did the best I could with all the action. Thoughts? I will post another thread about the great day I had shooting this and various other shots.

Re: Working Waterfront

These shots are rarely as you would have liked. I think the guy nearest the camera should have been right in the shot, as it is, we cannot see what he is doing. A slightly wider shot would have covered this.

In these situations is can be beneficial to take loads of photographs and you usually find one or two that will stand out from the rest.

Sometimes you can get people to set up a shot for you if you don't want a candid.

Re: Working Waterfront

dabhand,

He is in the orginal shot, but just out of this shot it is very black due to the stack of ropes and bouys. I felt the same way about thinking it would be better than it is. I took quite a few shots of them and will keep tinkering.

Re: Working Waterfront

My goodness a boat that's rustier than mine! That's a find

I love this for its bold colour and energy. I don't care for a second that nothing is in focus because in choosing a slow shutter speed you've captured all the movement and activity. It brings to mind documentaries from the 70s about Newfoundland fishermen and the like that used to be on TV early in the morning/late at night (depends on your perspective!)

Great stuff and look forward to the rest!
