Re: Your Move

Cool, i was thinking of something like this myself.
The pieces out of focus(is that called depth of field ) look like ghosts to me.

Re: Your Move

I like this one Fi, I think the composition and lighting work better than the other chess shot you posted. Excellent DOF aswell

Re: Your Move

Nice work Fi, the differential focusing works lovely here. Minor point to consider would be that the tops of the pawns could do with a fine outline to them so that they separate from the BG as there is an area completely black in the top of the pawn as well as the BG. I have a feeling a little play with the curves tool could sort that out and then it's a cracker. The rook front left seems a long way out of focus compared to the first pawn given how close they are together, is that just how it came out?

Good idea and well worked

Cheers,
Rob

Re: Your Move

Just had a little play to show you what I meant about the edges of the pawns to make them stand out from the background. See what you think.

Cheers,
Rob

Re: Your Move

Fiona - and Rob - Thanks for showing what can be done to bring out more detail and give a shot that extra "lift". How did you do it Rob?
