Yeah, know what you mean! Sounds like Hardness of Clone Tool is set quite high - I put it to 0% usually (control is under Size). But do appreciate that it takes time to learn the technique that works best for you

You need to try to match the hard/softness of the bruch to match what you are cloning. In this case, very soft would be best. Then also vary the opacity to smooth out the edges.

nice shot ray. very difficult situation for showing it sharp but you have done it well. i like central composition here, it's good for this kind of photo. the only thing i don't really like is background colour. i know that it's not your fault - and i have the same problem, lot's of photos from butterfly world but with gray background. it's not natural but because of circumstances i have to say it's fine.
