Black And White With Colour
I EXPECT THIS HAS BEEN ASKED SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE, THERE IS PROBABLY ALSO A TUTORIAL,BUT HEAR GOES. IF YOU CONVERT A PHOTO TO BLACK AND WHITE AND YOU WANT TO LEAVE PART OF IT, I.E. A PERSON OR OBJECT IN COLOUR, HOW IS THIS DONE PLEASE .
THIS I WILL HOPEFULLY BE TRYING IN CS3 MAC VERSION, WHEN I GET IT. ANY HELP AND ADVICE MUCH APPRECIATED. THANK YOU |

Re: Black And White With Colour
Make a new layer and convert that to mono. Then either erase the mono layer where you want colour, or if you have layer masks, use a mask for better control.
Here is some more detail. |

Re: Black And White With Colour
GRAHAM, IT WILL PROBABLY BE A COUPLE OF WEEKS YET, AS I AM STILL SAVING FOR CS3. IN THE MEANTIME I AM READING CS3 BOOKS AND TRYING TO LEARN AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE.
THERE SEEMS TO BE A LOT OF DIFFERENCE IN THE CONTROLS ETC, BETWEEN THE PC VERSION OF CS3 AND THE MAC VERSION. BIG STEP UP FROM ELEMENTS 5 THOUGH. |

Re: Black And White With Colour
what i do, and i feel gives you more controll, after you have selected the area you want to turn black and white, i use the gradiant tool, that way you can mess with the contrast and levels also you can make it any kind of color. like a white and pale pink er somethng

Re: Black And White With Colour
If you use a Convert To Black And White Adjustment layer, it comes complete with a layer mask attached. Just make your B/W adjustments and then simply paint with black onto the layer mask attached to the Adjustment Layer.
Another great way of doing this, with no erasing or layer masks involved is to open you full colour image, then convert it to B/W in any way you prefer (Image>Adjustments>Convert to black and white or Image>Adjustments>Channel Mixer are best as you have far more control over the tonal qualities of the resultant BW image!). After your conversion, just grab the History brush and display the History palette via Window>History. Now click in the empty box next to the "Open" entry in the History palette and paint the colour back in! Kind regards, Tim Shelbourne. |

Now go to the thread you are interested in, ans in the menu bar at the top of the thread there is a link 'Thread Tools'. An option in this menu is 'subscribe to this thread'. Clicking on this takes you to your user CP screen with two options - 'notification type' and 'folder options'. If you set the notification to 'no e-mail notifications' (unless you want to know if there has been another post) and use the drop down to select what folder you want to keep it in, just press the add subscription button and it is done. To go back to these saved threads, go into your user CP, go to 'subscribed threads' in the LH menu, then 'list subscriptions. Here there are controls to select what folder you want to open, (you can also select 'all subscriptions') and a list of links to your saved threads will be displayed. Just click on a link and job done. At the bottom of the list there is a box on the RHS where you can move or delete the individual subscribed threads. Edit: At the bottom of the list there is a box on the RHS where you can move or delete the individual subscribed threads after selecting them with the tick boxes on the RHS of the list.

forget how to manage subscribed threads .It would appear that one is 'subscribed' to every thread one contributes to?.That must use up lots of space on the Pixalo resources or is it not a memory type thing like on our indivdual computers?.Anyway, thanks for the guidance
