Change Vertical Perspective or not?

Got quite a few pictures to edit but all will require some vertical perspective alterations but here is one that needs it but not too sure wether too or not...

The thing is there isn't much of a difference with the vertical perspective corrected on this one.

Personally I think if you were further back with more uprights in vioew, then yes use the perspective crop....but for this one, I like it the way it is....& as you say you would lose too much of the shot.

I don't like using it much but I have a few images that will benefit from it on this occasion .

Re: Change Vertical Perspective or not?

Uncorrected works for me! Think it's the curved nature of the architecture which suits uncorrected perspective shots. Great composition too, with the figure to give scale!

Keep meaning to try some HDR shots - if I can find a suitable venue!

Re: Change Vertical Perspective or not?

I'd leave it too, think it looks pretty good with the converging verticles. Just because the technology is there doesn't mean it should always be used, the technology to correct this has always been around but you would hardly ever see people taking pics of tall buildings with a 5x4 or bellow lens.
I like it, I'm with everyone else, i'd leave it.

Re: Change Vertical Perspective or not?

I'd leave it, I did some experimentation with photographing buildings as I wanted to get the best froma trip to Rome I went on. I think it certain shots converging verticals look quite effective, generally this involves using symmetry like in your example above.

Funnily enough one of the places I went to experiment was Lincoln Cathedral and I took a similar shot but from further back so I was able to get the verticals (more or less) vertical. I think yours is more imposing.

Of course, I could crop off the floor a bit ...

Re: Change Vertical Perspective or not?

yeah im in totaly agreement with the others.......... leave it as it is ........ in some cases you have to break the "rules" and in this case it definately works.

bTW Dan i like yours as well, very interesting seeing it from two naturally different perspectives.

Re: Change Vertical Perspective or not?

I'll keep this short and sweet as everyone else has already covered all the points

Another vote for leaving it as it is
