Question Help - Colour cast on preview of Mono shots in CS2

Maybe you can help out this person I recieved an email from

Quote:
i have got a prob with monochrome in CS2
Basically after converting and playing etc and saving it as a RGB etc when re viewed in CS2 it has a reddish brown cast, however when its viewed in my pictures its fine!!
So i think i can rule the monitor out etc
The only way to correct it when viewing in CS2 is to go to

VIEW>PROOF SET UP>MONITOR RGB

All is ok however when u resave it it it doesnt make the slightest bit of difference when u review it in CS2

arrrrrrrghhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!

Any suggestions apart from throwing the comp out the window greatly appreciated

Upgrade to CS3!

Sounds an odd one - throw it Adobe's way

Re: Help - Colour cast on preview of Mono shots in CS2

I've seen some problems where people have "printer previewed" a shot & the printer profile adds a cast , but never just normal preview

Will ask what happens if shot is "desaturated" before saving, to see if that makes any difference

Re: Help - Colour cast on preview of Mono shots in CS2

If it looks OK in other applications, but not in CS2, it's likely to be a colour management problem (yet again!). The chances are that it's an sRGB image that CS2 thinks is Adobe RGB, perhaps because the colourspace isn't tagged in the JPG file. AFAIK even though it's a mono image the colourspace still matters, but I may be completely wrong here.

If that ain't it, all I can suggest is using Paint Shop Pro.

Re: Help - Colour cast on preview of Mono shots in CS2

There will be a logical reason for this. Has the system monitor been calibrated? What colour space is the picture being converted to? Assuming Colour management is on in CS2, what is the working colour space?. The Adobe Color Engine manages colour withing PS. However, if you view something just using Windows XP, then Windows colour engine manages the colour. I am not sure why you would use Proof setup>Monitor RGB unless this is the specific profile of a monitor elsewhere you wish to simulate.
