how to manage blue tinge ?

I have noticed that in some of my pictures where there is black involved, the black turns blue, and also the white which is next to it, is there a way to correct that with Photo shop ? In photos for fun I have a pic of my sister's new puppy " the new puppy" and it is apparent there, I tried to correct it with "replace color", but there must be something I am missing as it didn't do a really good job of it. Any suggestions ?

Re: how to manage blue tinge ?

Tha looks like a colour management or WB issue. Are you sure you've saved it as sRGB? It shouldn't be there in the first place if everything is hunky-dory. Was the original a JPEG or a RAW file?

Re: how to manage blue tinge ?

thanks silkstone, the original was a jpg, but this seems to happen when I run an action on the pic, I have element 4.0 and I run the smart fix on the pic, then to make it even better, I run an action called CSpringers contrast mask, in Photo shop, and that improves the pic really well, but then I notice the blue tinge, I go to "replace color" and can correct to some extent, but don't really know how to do that right so thought someone might know what the exact steps should be, or maybe there is another way to correct the blue tinge ?

Re: how to manage blue tinge ?

Frances, would you like to send me an out of camera shot that shows what you mean? I'll have a play with it in Photoshop and explain whatever steps I take.

Just if you want to of course

Cheers,
Rob

Re: how to manage blue tinge ?

that is very easy to correct with photoshop since it's on the black and the white, you can use a Channel Mixer Layer.

Open a Channel Mixer Layer click on Monochrome (this will turn the Image to B&W)

Go to the layers Palette and click on the mask and paint back everything but on the blue tinge reduce the opacity and the flow on the Soft Brush, every image is different so you will have to play with the settings for the opacity and flow.
here is the result.

After

Before

Hope that helps
