IR with #25 filter

Would like to hear how you feel about IR, good or bad. Honest opinions welcome , I have here a shot done with a #25 red filter, it adds a light yellowish tint to this photo, under normal shooting with no filter over all picture is lighter. When doing a channel swap it does give a good blue.
Pano 1,,straight from camera,,,Pano 2 auto levels (per channel contrast, 0.10% clip) Pano 3,,channel mixer mono, preset with yellow filter.

Thanks, Boofers

Re: IR with #25 filter

#3 - nicely balanced tones

Keep meaning to have a proper go at IR - whip off the dustscreen and the SD10 becomes a fairly sensitive IR camera (so they say)

Re: IR with #25 filter

Definitely No 3 for me, a clean, well-balanced image. Of the other two, I don't like the yellowish one at all, the second is ok but the yellowish tinge to the sky doesn't feel comfortable.

I like IR shots when the subject is chosen sparingly, they can be extremely effective but others can look flat and uninteresting. I haven't yet been tempted to devote an old camera to IR by doing the decidely risky job of taking it apart and removing the sensor screen. I read the details of how to do it and that was enough to put me off completely.

I have a feeling, but not at all sure, that Dave either did this or was thinking about it. Would be worth asking him how he got on.

Cheers,
Rob

Re: IR with #25 filter

Hi Rob,
thanks for the comments and everyone else to, I think around today I am 1 year old at Pixalo. Sometimes this is what they look like, sometimes you don't want to change them because they look good out of the camera. That usally means you have the white balance right on. This one might have been off, it was almosty dark when I took it and should have redone the custom white point. I love my IR camera and have shot 10 to 1 with it over my color,,,maybe a fad, but a lot of fun. I have posted straight shots in the gallery, but they look best with a little tweek of the contrast. When I go out to shoot, I take two camera's, color and IR and have been real close to messing with a blend of the two...

Hi simpbow, I read about someone getting IR effects from two polarisers slightly turned a few degrees apart. Haven't tried it yet.
