Panoramic's
Hi there - came across a great and simple programme for getting rea high quality panos - have a visit to Panorama software photo stitcher: Autopano Pro Home - Autopano Pro Website and download the free trial - not sure if it's for Mac only or they do a PC version but it is well worth a look. The results are are very good and fast and can be saved at a large format (can be smaller by a simple control system) for additional quality for print etc. Hope this helps.

Re: Panoramic's
Looks interesting Maddie - thanks for the link. If you don't want to pay for a stitcher then Canon give away their Photostitch app bundled with cameras, printers, scanners etc. It's very good for a freebie.

Re: Panoramic's
I have tried AutoPano Pro in the past and was impressed with both its results and the speed at which it managed to stitch and blend the final images together. The final results were excellent using just the default settings but if you take the time to learn the program properly (unfortunately I didn't) then by all accounts the output can be fine tuned to be really good.
Unfortunately my trial period has ended now but its certainly worth giving it a go for the members who have not yet tried it. By the way it does indeed run on a PC as well as a MAC

Re: Panoramic's
Another good tool for Panoramas is Panorama Factory I've used it to create a couple. The gui can be a bit off putting but it's gives you a lot of control where required.
I'd always just used Photoshop before but I had one that just wouldn't go together, I downloaded a number of trials and got the best results with Panorama Factory (which thankfully was one of the cheaper ones). |

Re: Panoramic's
Not a dedicated section Maddie, but there has been quite alot of members try them out over the months. Sparhawk just shared a nifty bit of kit that might interest you :- Panoramic Aid

Re: Panoramic's
Can't praise PTGui enough. Very easy to use. All the panos I've put on this site have been done with it.
I tried Panorama Factory at the same time I tried PTGui but Panorama Factory was unable to stitch the pano I did of Endeavour.

Re: Panoramic's
I tried using the panoramic facility in PS CS and it was OK with easy pics. I tried it on 3 pics taken at 10mm focal lengthand it could not deal with the perspective distortion (yes I know it would have been better to take 6 or 7 pics with a medium focal length).
Having updated to CS3, I find that the Panoramic software has had a major rewrite. According to Deke McClelland (Independent PS Tutor), the CS3 version is the best he had seen and earlier Adobe versions were not really worth using. So I had to give it a try and I am impressed. I even tried my three 10mm pics and it had no problem stitching them. I am not suggesting that anyone buys CS3 just for this but if you plan to upgrade to CS3 sometime then this is one of many huge improvements. |

Re: Panoramic's
Honestly guys, all you using PS, Panorama Factory etc please download the free trial of PTGui and give it a go. I tried all the major software packages that were available for the PC and PTGui quickly asserted itself as being in a class of it own. for ease of use, user control and the quality of the final output it was the clear winner.
