Re: Which Photo Editing software do you use?

Hi Fi

When you open a RAW file from Bridge, you have two choices. You can Ctrl/R to open in Camera Raw, or you can ctrl/O to open in photoshop.

They are both the same except that opening in camera raw allows you to work on other images in photoshop while camera raw is processing your raw files.

And there is a slight difference in the defaults in the lower right side, ie what you want to do after you have processed the raw files.

See my tutorial on camera raw settings.

Also, I am thinking about another tut on my workflow for camera raw, which may be helpful to a lot of people in feeling more comfortable with ACR.

So, aside from Dutchie and myself, does anyone else use PS7?

Re: Which Photo Editing software do you use?

CS2 for me.

Picasa for finding stuff, (I think I have the worst filing system on the planet!! ) and as of yesterday (oh, thank you thank you thank you - downloaded from here) Raw Shooter Essentials.

Cheers,
Cathie

PS - to all those of you who say you can't use everything in CS/2 don't worry. I've heard that even the people who designed it did "specialist" bits, and not even THEY know how to do everything!!

Re: Which Photo Editing software do you use?

Use PS, PicureProject (Nikon), NeatImage, and NikonView; I also occasionally use RawShooter | Essentials too. For resizing I normally use ExifPro, which I LOVE lots. Has a great image viewer as well.

Re: Which Photo Editing software do you use?

Hi I am a newbi to the forum and have just bought the 350d, I was wondering if anyone has used Arcsoft photo studio, it came with the camera but I am short on hard disk space and already have Adobe cs2. I would be obliged for any opinions.

I'm waiting for CS3 to be released. I've been using CS3 beta for a while and love it.

I've had something of Arcsoft's, but can't remember what it was, scanning tool I think (whatever it was, I obviously don't use it anymore ) Anyway, I shouldn't think their photo studio has anything that cs2 doesn't have and seeing as you already have cs2 that would be your best bet, I would imagine. However, having said all that, it could be that the Arcsoft one has all the tools you need but probably with a much simpler interface, so it could be worth checking out if you're not keen to use cs2. Only one way to find out ... install + test it for yourself

As for limited hard disk space, you're gonna have to fix that anyways, if you're serious about photography, otherwise where are you gonna store all those photies?? An external drive is the simplest solution to consider.

Re: Which Photo Editing software do you use?

Hi guys i use photoshop 6 & Rawshooter essentials which i got free in camera mag & i,am happey enough with the results i,am getting. It took a while to get used to the computer[as you see] & the software but it seems to do a decent enough job. Pity Rawshooter sold out its very easy to use[suits me] .

Re: Which Photo Editing software do you use?

Sorry about this but I use Micrografx Picture Publisher 10 pro. for cloning and complete ease of use, especially the printer interface and monitor Gamma settings. You can layer etc and put all of your most used icons customised down the side bar but lacks a lot of the auto functions that Elements 5 has, which I also use. I use Canon Digital camera Pro and Lightroom for Raw photos which is quite rare. The only problem now with Microgrfx PP is that upgrading to Vista will ensure the program will never work again.

Re: Which Photo Editing software do you use?

As a newbie I have found RAW conversion in Capture NX easy, then open in Photoshop Elements 5 to get rid of blemishes etc as at the moment they fulfill my needs, finding the right software to use has been the hardest part but everything is worthless without a calibrated screen like mine!!

Regards

David
