Photoshop B&W conversion

Just wondering what people use to make the B&W conversions. The Photoshop B&W adjustment layer looks to have a lot of controls. Is this the best way to do them.

Re: Photoshop B&W conversion

I think the channel mixer works well, as sometimes the bw adjustment layer can offer too many colours to play with, taking away some of the 'master' controls, making it a biut fiddly, but having said that being able to click on the image and drag for tone is a gem of a tool.

Re: Photoshop B&W conversion

I sometimes convert in Adobe Raw which now offers an 8 channel colour mixer. However, in a typical image at least 3 of the 8 colours have no effect so 8 is probably over the top. The B&W converter in CS3 with 6 channels seems to be ideal and this is method I use most of the time.

Re: Photoshop B&W conversion

I've tried every method I could read about and every plug in but I've now settled firmly with the B&W adjustment layer in CS3.
