WELL AFTER A VERY LONG WAIT, I NOW HAVE PHOTOSHOP CS3.
IT'S GRRRRRRRRRREAT, A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT EXPERIENCE TO WHAT I HAVE BEEN USED TO ( ELEMENTS 5 ) I WILL PROBABLY HAVE LOTS OF QUESTIONS, SO BE PREPARED. JUST TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT DOES WHAT AT THE MOMENT, BUT I AM HAVING FUN DOING IT.

Good for you Woody. I have CS2 and cannot justify the upgrade but just a few features (eg layer masks) make it much more useful than elements.

You'll soon get to grips with the main tools as you are an experimenter which is important. Keep playing and see how you get on. There are some useful tips and tutorials on here and elsewhere on the internet (YouTube is stuffed full of them!) so have a look at those and remember there are plenty of us on here that will always be glad to help answer any queries you might have so ask away.

The great thing about a forum like this is that one person asks a question but countless numbers learn from the answers given because they wanted to know but didn't ask!

I am finding more and more customers coming to me for personal tuition locally and this is mostly through word of mouth as there are lots of newbies to PS wanting to learn how to use it. But sorry Woody, you're a touch too far away for me to pop round! Be glad to help on here though

Recently, Adobe had an offer for Elements users to upgrade to CS3 for half price. They sent an e-mail to all registered elements users with a discount code. Worked out at about £280, I think.

I GOT THE STUDENT VERSION. I THINK IT WAS AROUND £205.

As far as I know, the e-mails were sent out about 6 months ago. if you have a version of Elements registered with Adobe, you ought to have had it by now.
